🎒✏️ Great news as we get ready for the 2026–2027 school year!
This year, all school supplies will be provided for your child by the school! Families do not need to purchase the usual classroom supplies such as pencils, notebooks, crayons, markers, folders, scissors, glue, and more.
Families are only asked to provide:
🎒 A backpack
🍎 A lunch box, if needed
💧 A refillable water bottle
We hope this makes preparing for the new school year a little easier for our families. Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We can’t wait to welcome our Dragons back to school! 🐉📚❤️
Growing Stronger, Soaring Higher!

Giant Food is celebrating its 90th anniversary and as part of the celebration, Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is partnering with Giant in the 2026 Nourishing Our Youth Giant Food Round Up program. It is available at local Giant stores in Charles County July 10 until Aug. 6.
Upon check out, Giant customers can round up their purchase amount at the register to support CCPS’s food and meal programs. CCPS received over $9,000 in donations last year that was used to help support families that receive McKinney-Vento supports such as food outside of the school day. The McKinney-Vento homeless assistance act supports the education of children who are experiencing homelessness.
Giant Food offers the Round Up program annually to assist with raising funds to address childhood hunger throughout local public school systems. To learn more, visit https://giantfood.2givelocal.com/.

Maryland SUN Bucks program is available this summer. The program, overseen by the Maryland Department of Human Services, helps families with school-age children who receive free or reduced-price meals buy groceries during summer break when school meals are not available.
Families that qualify for the Maryland SUN Bucks program will receive $40 for each eligible child in June, July and August to go toward grocery purchases.
Most students are automatically enrolled and do not need to apply. Program letters or a letter of eligibility has been mailed to families.
To learn more, call 800-332-6347 and select the Maryland SUN Bucks option from the recorded menu. Visit https://dhs.maryland.gov/sunbucks/ for more information and to enroll.

Teachers provided a comprehensive overview of a typical 3rd grade classroom, including academic expectations, routines, learning opportunities, and ways families can support student success. It was a wonderful evening of connection, collaboration, and preparation for this exciting next step in our students’ educational journey.
We look forward to welcoming our future 3rd graders and helping them continue to learn, grow, and thrive at Dr. Mudd Elementary!
