Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is seeking two parent volunteers, two high school student volunteers and three teachers to serve on its attendance committee.

Volunteers must be able to attend in-person meetings scheduled throughout the month of May from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building.  The Starkey Building is located at 5980 Radio Station Road in LaPlata.

Tentative meeting dates are below.

  • Wednesday, May 10.

  • Wednesday, May 24.

  • Wednesday, May 31.

The committee is tasked with review and proposal of revision of Superintendent’s Rule 5122: Elementary and Secondary Attendance involving provisions for lawful absences. The attendance committee will provide recommendations to the Superintendent of Schools for review and approval.

Staff will review interest forms to select volunteers from different areas in Charles County, as well as different school communities. Staff may also select an alternate parent and student attendance committee volunteer.
