Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is launching the Where’s The Bus platform for the 2023-2024 school year. Where’s The Bus uses GPS technology installed on school buses that allows parents/guardians to monitor their child’s school bus in real time.
Users of the platform can view data such as when the bus will arrive at their child’s bus stop, when the bus will arrive to/from their child’s school, and bus assignment information. Bus assignment data for the new school year will be loaded to Where’s The Bus on or around Aug. 21.
Where’s The Bus features a mobile app in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The platform can also be accessed online at www.wheresthebus.com. To create an account, visit the website or download the mobile app and select Charles County Public Schools from the drop-down menu. Users will need to enter their child’s six-digit CCPS student ID and birth date. Student ID information can be viewed in ParentVue.
Please note – Where’s The Bus may display information from the prior school year until the school system’s student information system, Synergy, is updated for the new school year. Synergy updates for the 2023-2024 school year are planned for the week of Aug. 7.
CCPS encourages parents to continue to check the platform, as well as their ParentVue account, during the days leading up to the start of school to view any possible transportation changes. Bus route information will also be loaded into ParentVue and School Locator by Aug. 21. Parents/guardians who do not see transportation information listed in School Locator, ParentVue or Where’s The Bus after Aug. 21 can reach out to the CCPS transportation department by email at ccpstransrouting@ccboe.com for assistance.
Transportation staff adjust, and add, routes as needed throughout the first few weeks of school and during the school year. Bus route information for students who have specific transportation needs for special education related programs is not posted in School Locator or available on Where’s The Bus. Transportation staff work directly with those families.
Parents should check their child’s bus information before the first day of school, which is Monday, Aug. 28. Students in the CCPS prekindergarten program start school on Tuesday, Sept. 5. Bus information for prekindergarten students will be available on or around Sept. 1.
