Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is looking for parent and community volunteers to serve on the school system’s District Committee on Assessment.
State law requires each local school system to create a district committee on assessment every two years to review and evaluate the district’s assessment plan, as well as make recommendations to the Board of Education. This will be the fourth time since 2018 that CCPS is forming an assessment committee.
CCPS parents and community members interested in volunteering should complete the interest form below. Deadline to complete the form is 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 29.
All committee meetings will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the CCPS administrative offices located at the Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building at 5980 Radio Station Road in La Plata. Meeting dates are Dec. 12; Jan. 16; Feb. 13, March 13; and April 10. Staff from the CCPS offices of accountability and teaching and learning will oversee the committee.
Below are topics for each meeting:
Meeting 1: Review of Section 7-203 of the Education Article, Annotated Code of Maryland, previous recommendations, College and Career Readiness (CCR), Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) and CCPS common assessments.
Meeting 2: Testing minutes, Stiggins rubrics to review assessments, level meetings and review of current assessments.
